加拿大蒙特利尔国际音乐比赛创立于2002年,此次2016年加拿大蒙特利尔国际音乐比赛(小提琴)主要针对那些来自各国想要发展小提琴事业的年轻乐手们,为他们实现自己的音乐梦想。本次比赛分为四个阶段:初选阶段(根据选手的视频进行选拔),四分之一赛,半决赛及决赛。
蒙特利尔交响乐团是加拿大蒙特利尔国际音乐比赛的官方乐团。自1934年成立以来,蒙特利尔交响乐团作为加拿大管弦乐的领导者,它又代表了加拿大文化和生活的最高大使。蒙特利尔交响乐团曾在40多个国家巡演,发行了共100多张唱片并且获得49个国际大小奖项。

三等奖:10000加拿大元奖金;
另有多项特别奖项;
并且根据之前几个赛季的规定,音乐协会会为比赛优胜者提供一些演出机会。
